Screenshot Computer

Taking a screenshot might not be a very difficult thing to do for a majority of computer users. In fact, the feature is used by thousands of people every day. However, one of the most frequently asked questions you will hear today is how one can screenshot computer. Well, there are two main methods of doing it and which we’ll outline in this post. Read on to learn more on how to carry out this simple task.

Method 1

How to screenshot computer using default keyboard shortcuts and paint

Regardless of the version of operating system you are using, taking a screenshot can be as simple as operating a few selected keyboard controls on your computer. Here are the steps to follow when using this method.

Step 1. Capturing the image

To capture the image of the entire display, you should press the Print Screen button that is often located in the upper right hand corner of the machine’s keyboard. On the other hand, if you want to only capture the image of the active window, press both Alt + Print Screen buttons. However, when using Windows 8 or 10, press the Windows key + Print Screen. This way, you will have taken an image of the screen with the resulting shot being saved as a PNG image in the screenshots folder of your computer’s picture directory. It’s important to note that there will be no sound heard or any other signal to indicate that your screenshot has been taken.

Step 2. Saving Screenshot Using Paint

This step helps you to make changes to your screenshot especially if you need to edit it. As such, a program referred to as Paint will help you on this. To access Paint on your computer, begin by clicking the Start menu. You can then navigate to the Accessories folder where you’ll find Paint. On the other hand, you could simply search for the program from the Windows search bar.

Once you’ve found the program, open it and paste your screenshot using the Ctrl + V combination. You can now edit your image in any way you wish and finally save it in your desired format using the gray Save button found at the bottom right-hand corner of the program’s interface.

Method 2

How To Screenshot Computer Using Snipping Tool

This is another built-in utility that can be used to capture and save a snapshot of your computer screen. It might not be the most versatile but it offers a fitting service altogether.

Step 1. Opening the Snipping Tool

Begin by clicking the Start menu before proceeding to the Accessories folder. Select the Snipping Tool and open it. You can also search for it on the Windows search bar.

Step 2. Select your preferred snip type

Here, you can select your desired snip type from the options provided in the drop-down list after clicking the New tab. You will then be required to choose whether you want to capture the screen of the active window or the entire screen. Also, remember to define your preferred screen capture selection from the options provided here.

Step 3. Saving your screenshot

In this step, you may edit your image the way you like before saving it in your preferred format. Use the Save As option found in the File tab to save your image.

Using the two simple methods described above, it’s evident that you’ll hardly experience any difficulty capturing your computer’s screenshot. It’s important to mention that some computers might not come with the Print Screen button. However, a quick check on their manual might offer you alternative key combinations that will serve the same purpose.
